[2-8-3-1] Example for the doctrine of worthier title
X owns Blackacre in fee simple absolute. X conveys Blackacre “to Y for life, remainder to X’s heirs.” The Doctrine of Worthier Title makes the remainder to X’s heirs void. Consequently, X is left with a reversion. This is why the Doctrine is sometimes called the “rule forbidding remainders to grantors’ heirs.”
