[4-4-1] Character in issue

Whenever a party’s general character or his particular character trait is in issue, character evidence is admissible.

For example, Plaintiff says that Defendant has libeled him by calling him a liar. Defendant may introduce evidence of Plaintiff’s character for untruthfulness, since that character which is an essential element of Defendant’s defense that his statement was true, is in issue
